SB Preview: CBU to Welcome Five Programs for this Weekend's CBU Classic

RIVERSIDE --- Early season tournaments around collegiate softball roll on, as this week the Lancers get their turn to play host as five other schools embark towards Riverside for the CBU Classic. The Lancers will play six times over five days, as 16 games fill the weekend slate at John C. Funk Stadium.
Making their way to Riverside this week for the 2026 CBU Classic are CSU Bakersfield, Hawaii, LMU, Saint Francis, and Utah State. The Lancers will play all teams except Utah State, including two games against both CSUB and SFU.
The Lancers opened the season last weekend in Las Vegas at the UNLV Leadoff Classic. CBU finished 3-2, picking up wins over UNLV (twice) and UIC. CBU placed the tying run on third base in the bottom of the seventh in their first meeting with Purdue, but a game ending double play thwarted a chance of a fourth win.
Head coach Brandon Telesco earned his first win as the Lancers' head coach in CBU's opening night victory over UNLV. Riverside native Miranda De Nava also had a weekend to remember as she was named the WAC Pitcher of the Week following a 1-1 showing with a save and 19 punchouts.
Sophomore Madalyn Martin added to the stellar CBU debuts with two home runs and a complete game shutout in the circle to pair with them. Ashlee Annett hit a solo home run on Saturday against Purdue, and freshman Kimberly Westover created a moment she will never forget when she homered in her first collegiate at bat (vs. UIC).
Now playing on their home field, CBU will get their first chance to perform in front of their fans against LMU on Thursday night. The Lancers and Lions will hit the field at 6 p.m. for game one of the CBU Classic.
CBU will play two more games on Friday, followed by two on Saturday. The Lancers will get Sunday off before returning to the diamond to close out the CBU Classic on Monday night against Hawaii.

After the CBU Classic, the Lancers will travel to Palm Desert for the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic.
