Russell-Millen was the offensive star of the show on Tuesday as she ended the night 3-for-4 with four RBI. Russell-Millen was just a single shy of the cycle as she tripled in the third, doubled in the fifth, and then ended the night in the sixth with a three-run blast.
The senior infielder reached base four times as she also made it to first on a fielder's choice in the fourth.
That fourth inning saw the Lancers bat around as they sent 12 batters to the plate, resulting in six runs on two hits and one USD error. CBU also reached base on three walks, two fielders' choices, and a hit batter.
CBU began its scoring in the second when Russell-Millen tripled down the right field line, plating Madalyn Martin, who began the inning with a single. After the fourth inning outburst, the Lancers added another run in the fifth off a Stevie Robison sacrifice fly to score Sydney Peterson.
The Lancers added more in the sixth, beginning with a successful squeeze bunt from Ashlee Annett to score Kenzie Farrier-Pilon. Then, with CBU leading 9-3, the knockout punch came off the bat of Russell-Millen as she hit her third home run of the season to put an early end to the game.
Tuesday's victory is CBU's sixth win in less than seven innings this season.
Annika Hollingsworth earned the win, improving her season record to 3-0. Hollingsworth allowed three runs (one earned) across six hits in her five innings of work. She also struck out five Toreros, two looking. Miranda De Nava then pitched a scoreless sixth inning in relief.
CBU is now 14-3, extending what is already the best start to a season in the program's Division I history. The Lancers have won 11 in a row, also extending the best win streak in the program's Division I history.
Next up for the Lancers is a trip to Arizona, as CBU will compete four times in the ASU/GCU Invitational. The week begins with games at Grand Canyon on Friday as the Lancers will play CSU Bakersfield and Wisconsin. The Lancers will then visit Tempe on Saturday to play CSUB a second time before taking on Arizona State.
Only Saturday night's game against the Sun Devils will be streamed.
