Lancers Win Series After Tenth-Inning Walk-Off
3/14/2026 5:35:00 PM | Softball
RIVERSIDE --- The finale of California Baptist's three-game series with the North Dakota State Bison extended into extra innings for the second day in a row. In the rubber game of this three-game set, CBU walked off NDSU once again, this time in the tenth frame, to win the series and the game, 2-1.
Head coach Brandon Telesco and his squad are now 22-10 with Saturday's victory. The Lancers remain unbeaten in extra innings, sitting 3-0 when games stretch beyond the seventh.
Miranda De Nava earned her seventh win of the season, doing so in a complete game in which she logged all 10 innings in the circle. De Nava allowed one run across seven hits with one walk and six punchouts. She threw 125 pitches.
CBU started the scoring in the bottom of the second when Malachy Russell-Millen hit a towering home run over the left field fence, giving the Lancers a 1-0 lead. Russell-Millen has four home runs on the season, a career-high.
NDSU leveled the score in the fourth when a fielder's choice plated the tying run.
Five innings with nothing but zeroes followed on the scoreboard, as the game extended deep into extra innings. Nine innings were needed on Friday to decide a winner in game one of the series. This time around, a tenth frame would be needed to capture a winner.
That winning play came on an NDSU error, allowing Savannah Gatewood to score the walk-off run.
CBU racked up 11 hits in the win. Berkleigh Tuck was an on-base machine, finishing the day 4-for-4. Ashlee Annett went 2-for-5.
Saturday was the final non-conference game before the start of the WAC season. The Lancers will open their first conference series next weekend when they travel to Cedar City to play Southern Utah.
The Lancers will return to John C. Funk Stadium on Tuesday, March 24, when UC Santa Barbaa comes to town. CBU will then host Utah Valley for the first home W
